About The Position

The Inventory Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring the effective control, movement, and availability of raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods within a manufacturing environment. This role supports production continuity, cost control, and financial accuracy by performing inventory transactions, cycle counts, reconciliations, and compliance with company policies and internal controls. The Inventory Specialist works closely with Production, Purchasing, Warehouse, and Finance teams to ensure inventory levels are accurate, materials are available when needed, and discrepancies are promptly investigated and resolved. The Inventory Specialist is key in improving storage locations in line with lean waste reduction with a focus on FIFO as well as maintaining inventory accuracy.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must be able to obtain forklift license to operate stand up and sit-down forklifts.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • General computer skills are required. Must have the ability to enter job related data into a computer system.
  • Requires a commitment to continuous improvement in order to meet ever increasing demands for improved quality, cost, and delivery performance.
  • Excellent training and communication skills, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with the other manufacturing operations team and the executive management team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills of both the interpersonal and the technical side of the operation.
  • Organized and structured approach to the work environment, with strong attention to details.
  • Ability to excel in a team-based environment.
  • Ability to perform in a proactive mode, and to plan and respond accordingly.
  • Must use Plex software and Microsoft office when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate inventory records for raw materials, WIP, finished goods, and supplies
  • Perform regular cycle counts and participate in physical inventories with a key focus on FIFO
  • Investigate and resolve inventory variances and root causes
  • Improve Storage Locations in line with Lean Waste Reduction
  • Process inventory transactions in the ERP system (receipts, issues, transfers, adjustments)
  • Support production by ensuring material availability and proper staging
  • Ensure compliance with inventory controls, procedures, and audit requirements
  • Coordinate with Purchasing and Receiving on discrepancies and shortages
  • Cross Train across materials positions to ensure coverage during scheduled time off
  • Maintain organized documentation to support audits and internal controls
