About The Position

SUMMARY Loads, unloads, and moves materials within or near plant, yard, or work site by performing the following duties. This position may require overtime to include weekends. May also be required to work off shifts. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Assembles boxes to contain products. Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on coils, or other containers. Conveys materials and tools from storage or work sites to designated area. Counts, weighs, and records number of parts in containers and pounds on coil. Lifts heavy objects by hand or with power hoist, cleans work area, machines, and equipment to assist machine operators. Loads and unloads materials and tools onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand and with fork truck. Loads materials into vehicles for shipments. May be required to work off shifts as needed. May work in other areas of either plant based on production requirements. Opens containers. Operates industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products. Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved. Secures lifting attachments to materials and conveys load to destination.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain a forklift license.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
