About The Position

The Inventory Management Specialist position at the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, involves managing inventory items to support the depot level maintenance facility and Coast Guard air station maintenance program. The role includes planning, expediting, forecasting, and coordinating supply involvement for complex materials, utilizing the Aircraft Maintenance Management Information System (AMMIS) for inventory control, and developing budgets for procurement of materials and services.

Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the federal sector, or a Master's degree or equivalent graduate education.
  • Experience applying knowledge of inventory management principles, laws, and regulations to provide information about supply requirements.
  • Experience working with automated inventory control systems.
  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the federal sector for GS-11 applicants, including experience in long-range supply and demand planning.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in analyzing and evaluating the effectiveness of supply programs and operations.
  • Experience in initiating and monitoring procurement of items with long or fluctuating lead times.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, order, and position material in support of the depot level maintenance facility and Coast Guard air station maintenance program.
  • Plan, expedite, forecast, coordinate, analyze, resolve, and report on all supply involvement pertaining to managed materials or systems.
  • Use AMMIS to maintain inventory control records and provide real-time information on Coast Guard aviation assets.
  • Develop and manage a budget for procurement of materials and services in support of managed items.
  • Determine quantities of major equipment to be purchased and initiate procurement actions based on demand history and stock position.
