Position Purpose: Responsible for managing and optimizing the lifecycle of expired pharmaceutical inventory, including patient returned product, manufacturer returns, and product replacement reconciliation. This role focuses on inventory loss mitigation, reshipment process improvement, and data driven analysis to reduce product expiration and financial exposure, while ensuring regulatory compliance and accurate inventory accounting. This is a hybrid role with on site requirements in office in Chesterfield, MO.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of related pharmacy and inventory management experience.
  • National and state certification as a pharmacy technician.
  • AcariaHealth: State pharmacy technician license(s) relative to where the employee and assigned pharmacy are located (exception being NY where a pharmacy technician license is not required).
  • License is required upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Manage end to end processing of expired pharmaceutical inventory, including identification, segregation, tracking, and disposition of expired goods.
  • Coordinate manufacturer return programs for expired and eligible products, ensuring accurate documentation, adherence to return policies, and timely submission to maximize credit recovery.
  • Oversee reconciliation of product replacements, including validation of replacement shipments, matching credits to original inventory, and resolution of discrepancies in partnership with Finance and Fulfillment Operations.
  • Own inventory controls related to expired, returned, and reshipped product, including inventory adjustments, variance analysis, and root cause investigation of discrepancies.
  • Analyze reshipment, return, and expiration data to identify trends, loss drivers, and operational gaps contributing to product waste or rework.
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve workflows for reshipments and expired goods handling, with a focus on cost containment, efficiency, compliance, and reduction of preventable reships.
  • Develop and maintain recurring and ad hoc reporting related to expired inventory, reshipment volume, manufacturer credits, replacement reconciliation, and product loss; present insights and recommendations to leadership.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders (pharmacy operations, logistics, finance, compliance) and external partners (manufacturers) related to expired inventory.
  • Ensure expired inventory handling, returns, and documentation comply with state and federal regulations, internal policies, and audit requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by documenting standard work, identifying system or automation opportunities, and participating in cross functional projects to reduce inventory loss.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records across applicable systems, ensuring timely updates related to expiration status, return eligibility, credits received, and replacements issued.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
