About The Position

The Inventory Management Specialist (Non-Expendables) serves as a Property Manager within the Merial Management Division of the Logistics Service at the Department of Veterans Affairs. This role is responsible for the inventory and lifecycle management of all non-expendable equipment in the assigned areas, ensuring proper management, accountability, and resolution of logistics issues. The position involves both office and warehouse work, including processing new equipment receipts and maintaining the Equipment Inventory List (EIL).

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must meet time-in-grade requirements for GS-09 level.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-07 level in inventory management and equipment accountability.
  • Education may substitute for experience: 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education or LL.B./J.D. related to the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with bar code scanning equipment and property accounting systems.
  • Knowledge of procurement processes and inventory control methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the lifecycle of non-expendable (NX) assets in the VA Health Care System and supported catchment area.
  • Support customers and acquisition personnel in developing requirements for NX assets.
  • Conduct advanced planning for new and replacement NX assets using computerized planning tools.
  • Analyze data impacting procurement decisions and inventory management.
  • Act as a central point of contact for material support and logistics problem resolution.
  • Ensure equipment accountability through a monthly inspection program.
  • Perform on-site inventories and manage the transfer and disposal of equipment.
