About The Position

The Inventory Coordinator is charged with the responsibility of safeguarding the City's inventory at the Central Warehouse to protect against shrink, obsolescence, and to maintain the physical structure and environment. Responsible for the perpetual inventory including a bar code system which helps controls inventory levels, accuracy of items received and issued and automates the physical counting of individual items. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Receive and issue items from inventory while adhering to automated inventory controls and procedures; Sorts and places materials on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code. Marks materials with identifying information; Maintains the overall organization and appearance of the warehouse, paying special attention to stock rotation, par levels and shelving arrangement, to protect against shrink, obsolescence, and to maintain the physical structure and environment; Mains sufficient stock levels, and prepares purchase orders to reorder inventory items when needed; Operational responsibility for the computerized perpetual inventory system which includes an electronic bar code system, docking stations, label printing, management reporting and uploading of transaction to the City's accounting system(s); Maintains and updates departmental databases related to work orders and minimum material standards; Works with department superintendents to pre-order materials for capital projects; Obtains competitive quotes, maintains various purchasing files, enters purchase orders, and coordinates meetings with vendors; Maintains internal controls in all areas supervised; adheres to segregation of duties; and makes recommendations for improvements as necessary; Promotes positive relationship with all City departments and maintains effective working relationships with City personnel; Delivers products to City departments; Oversees the sale and/or removal of assets through liquidation services such as GovDeals; Coordinates and schedules annual warehouse inventory count in connection with City's annual audit, and Coordinates daily operational duties for the Part Time Central Warehouse Attendant. Supervisory Responsibilities This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. Requirements

  • High school graduation or its equivalent required and Associates degree preferred
  • Governmental purchasing experience preferred
  • computerized perpetual inventory system and bar code inventory management experience required
  • Governmental purchasing laws, rules regulations and procedures, especially as they apply to municipalities
  • management principles

  • Operate computers, including word processing and spreadsheet software
