About The Position

The position involves coordinating purchasing activities to ensure the timely procurement of goods and services. The individual will issue purchase orders, assist with quality issues that may result in returns to vendors, and manage inventory levels to prevent shortages or excess stock. Maintaining accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier information is essential. The role also requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to forecast demand and align purchasing strategies, monitoring supplier performance, and addressing any issues related to quality or delivery. Additionally, the individual will utilize procurement management software to streamline purchasing processes, research inventory discrepancies with Finance, and communicate with scheduling and production regarding any issues with materials. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree with a minimum of two years of experience in replenishment buying and/or requisition buying in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of production, logistics and supply chain management principles
  • Prior experience in manufacturing
  • Prior experience in purchasing preferred
  • Analytical skills; ability to calculate and convert units of measure, build truckloads, etc.
  • Proficient in inventory management techniques to optimize stock levels
  • Strong team player
  • Ability to take initiative and think proactively with a positive attitude and target oriented approach
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office, especially Excel)
  • Ability to analyze pricing trends and make informed purchasing decisions
  • Experience with ERP systems; SAGE preferred
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with suppliers and internal teams
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
  • Must be able to work well independently or with minimal supervision
