About The Position

Charlie's Produce is a privately owned wholesale produce company, recognized as the largest privately owned produce wholesaler on the West Coast. The Inventory Control position is responsible for managing all activities related to Quality Control (QC) and inventory within the warehouse environment. The primary goal is to ensure proper material storage and maintenance of accurate and appropriate inventory levels to meet customer demands. QC responsibilities include inspecting all inbound and outbound products to ensure adherence to company quality and dating standards. This role involves close collaboration with the receiving group to identify and address quality issues with incoming products, as well as working with the purchasing department to resolve these issues.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in warehouse shipping and handling, preferred
  • Experience WMS AS 400
  • Intermediate Computer Skills: Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, And PowerPoint.
  • Must be able to safely operate all warehouse equipment
  • A vast knowledge of the fresh produce or perishables industry is needed to be successful in this role.
  • Must demonstrate excellent written, verbal, and oral presentation skills.
  • Ability to plan, organize, implement, and follow through on projects.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and short deadlines.
  • Critical thinking, ability to use of logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Must have the ability to communicate with all levels of management internally and externally.
  • Adaptability/Flexibility, with the ability to react quickly to changing requirements from internal and external conditions while maintaining good communication with all parties involved.
  • Must be able to frequently lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, and reach regularly.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and days, weekends, and holidays.

  • Inventory Management experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Monitor physical inventory ensuring all pick slots are checked daily
  • Record shortages, lack of movement, age, and visual quality of inventory
  • Report physical inventory to the Buyers and update system accuracy
  • Communicate concerns and opportunities to Sales and Buying Staff
  • Manage expiration dating and product rotation
  • Achieve target shrink goals
  • Provide SKU rationalization recommendations
  • Other duties as assigned
