About the position

The Procurement and Inventory Manager will oversee all aspects of supply chain operations, focusing on purchasing supplies, managing vendor relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring optimal inventory levels to support the company's operations. This role is critical for maintaining the quality and availability of fire and safety equipment and related materials.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate, and select reliable suppliers for fire and safety equipment and related materials.
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules with vendors.
  • Place purchase orders for supplies and equipment in alignment with company needs and budget constraints.
  • Monitor purchase orders to ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Draft, review, and manage procurement contracts, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure optimal stock levels without overstocking or stockouts.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventory audits to maintain accuracy.
  • Develop and maintain reorder points and ensure just-in-time procurement to minimize storage costs.
  • Collaborate with warehouse teams to manage stock receiving, storage, and distribution efficiently.
  • Prepare reports on inventory turnover, aging stock, and procurement costs for management review.
  • Work with management to develop and adhere to the procurement budget.
  • Track expenditures and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Verify supplier invoices against purchase orders and delivery records before processing payments.
  • Ensure all purchased fire and safety equipment meets applicable regulatory standards.
  • Inspect incoming materials to ensure they meet quality and safety specifications.
  • Monitor market trends and supplier performance to identify new sourcing opportunities.
  • Conduct periodic evaluations of suppliers based on performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Work closely with sales, operations, and finance teams to align procurement activities with company goals.
  • Communicate supply chain disruptions or delays to relevant departments promptly.
  • Address delivery delays, quality discrepancies, and other supplier issues effectively.
  • Develop contingency plans to minimize disruptions in the supply chain.
  • Manage procurement and inventory data using ERP systems or specialized software.
  • Analyze procurement and inventory data to identify inefficiencies and propose solutions.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in inventory management and control.
  • Strong analytical skills with a focus on demand planning and supply chain analytics.
  • Familiarity with procurement processes and inventory control systems.
  • Knowledge of supply chain management and distribution center operations.
  • Proficiency in data mining and root cause analysis.
  • Purchasing experience and negotiating skills.
  • General knowledge of Fire and Safety products.
