About The Position

The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for proactively investigating and addressing all matters related to the movement of inventory. This includes identifying process opportunities and ensuring that there are controls in place to ensure accurate accounting of inventory on-hands from the time merchandise is received, through the purchase at the point of sale. Essential Job Functions The incumbent must be able to perform all of the following duties and responsibilities w ith or without a reasonable accommodation. Provide leadership and routine guidance to the retail Inventory Control teams via phone and email communication. Support the Annual Physical Inventory program at all locations. Assist in the execution of sustainable cycle count programs at all locations. Perform research of discrepancies identified through cycle counts by working with Inventory Accounting and retail staff, and report concerns to the Inventory Control Operations Manager. Respond to inventory problems identified by supervisory personnel and take appropriate action to resolve while also identifying root causes and implementing preventative measures, when applicable. Work with the IT team in order to maintain, update and streamline current inventory control reports, processes, etc. Guide retail locations through inventory movement process including receiving, store to store transfers, buybacks, Ecom discrepancies and defective and outdated merchandise. Assist in the creation, execution and training of Inventory policy. Work with appropriate individuals, sites and teams to document and maintain SOPs for processes such as inventory adjustments, purchase returns, transfers, receiving, and exception process for in-transit. Acquire a thorough working knowledge of all inventory tools as well as all applicable related inventory system applications and reports. Monitor warehouse distributions, including items/shipments/containers that may or may not have been distributed to stores, but remain in transit for an extended length of time Monitor inventory at each store location and work with Regional Vice Presidents, Senior General Managers, Store Department Leads/team members, Merchandising, Replenishment, Accounts Payable, Loss Prevention and Warehouse Departments to ensure inventory controls are in place through effective communication. Education/Experience: An Associate’s Degree or higher in Accounting or Finance from an accredited university, or equivalent years of experience required. Strong analytical capabilities with an aptitude for problem solving and process improvement. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills. Must be flexible, organized and able to work accurately under time constraints and deadlines. Exceptionally strong computer skills (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) with previous exposure to ERP systems (Oracle preferred). Requirements
