About The Position

The Inventory Control Specialist is a key operational role responsible for safeguarding inventory accuracy, integrity, and compliance within the warehouse environment. This position ensures that all inventory transactions are executed accurately and consistently, discrepancies are promptly investigated and resolved, and inventory control processes support uninterrupted operations and data-driven decision-making. The Inventory Control Specialist partners closely with Operations, Planning, Procurement, and Finance to maintain alignment between physical inventory and system records while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2–4 years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or materials management.
  • Demonstrated experience with cycle counting programs and discrepancy resolution.
  • Proficiency with ERP and/or WMS systems (e.g., IFS, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar).
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accountability for data accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or regulated environments.
  • Working knowledge of inventory governance, internal controls, and audit readiness.
  • Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Inventory Accuracy & Control
  • Execute daily, weekly, and monthly cycle counts in accordance with established inventory control procedures.
  • Reconcile inventory variances by conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
  • Ensure inventory movements (receipts, issues, transfers, adjustments, and scrap) are accurately and timely recorded in the ERP/WMS.
  • Enforce FIFO, lot control, serialization, and traceability requirements as applicable.
  • Warehouse & Operational Support
  • Partner with receiving, shipping, and production teams to ensure materials are properly received, stored, staged, and issued.
  • Validate inbound materials against purchase orders, packing slips, and system requirements.
  • Support physical inventories, audits, and reconciliations, including preparation, execution, and post-count analysis.
  • Maintain accurate bin locations and support effective space utilization to optimize material flow.
  • Systems, Reporting & Compliance
  • Maintain system integrity by ensuring adherence to inventory transaction controls and standard work.
  • Generate inventory reports and metrics to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure inventory processes align with internal controls, safety standards, and regulatory or customer requirements.
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation and support internal and external audit requests.
  • Continuous Improvement & Standardization
  • Identify gaps in inventory control processes and recommend improvements to reduce shrink, rework, and inefficiencies.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Kaizen, Lean) to enhance inventory accuracy and warehouse performance.
  • Support the development, documentation, and training of standard work related to inventory control.
