About The Position

Position Summary: The Inventory Control Specialist I is responsible for maintaining, organizing, and controlling inventory to meet forecasted sales and production schedules. They perform cycle counts and maintain data that is used for determining optimal replenishment and stock on hand. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 6:00 am - 3:30 pm

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent, or at least two years shipping and receiving experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and understand inventory reports, parts and component descriptions, and technical procedures.
  • Ability to comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write English legibly for simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to count accurately, add, subtract, multiply and divide. Calculate inventory movement and identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple internal customers as well as external vendors. Ability to resolve customer problems in a timely manner.
  • Ability to solve practical inventory and work related problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to understand and follow BOM’s in organizing job boxes, interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have Good PC skills, proficient in Word, Excel, and MS Outlook, EPICOR and other specialized inventory-tracking applications/software.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must possess OSHA forklift certification
  • Must comply with and follow all IE standards, programs, policies, and procedures as they apply to this position, reports any unsafe condition immediately.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee typically works indoors in a controlled environment.
  • The employee is occasionally required to climb ladders and operate a forklift. Noise level is moderate.
  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Must have the ability to bend, squat and lift/and or move up to 20 lbs. frequently, lift and move up to 50 lbs. on a fairly regular basis and move up to 100 lbs. occasionally.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Color Vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk.
  • The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.
  • Work Schedule: Must be able to work a 40-hour work week and additional time as required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain accurate levels of stock items through the use of cycle counts, inventory adjustments, and data analysis.
  • Print stock status report and verify against physical inventory stock count.
  • Perform weekly cycle counts per finance’s documentation and lead. Print count sheets; count items; investigate errors and discrepancies; resolve issues uncovered in the post-completed report.
  • Manage transfer order dashboard and communicates with other plants as to the availability of material demands.
  • Maintain part entry data in Epicor. (Including min/max, costing method, POU, and stock/nonstock designations).
  • Make accurate quantity adjustments for non-stock, and obsolete part numbers.
  • Coordinate with warehouse material handler and return excess material and job return material to inventory.
  • Quantity adjust any stock inventory items that were checked out during prior shifts.
  • Participate in the annual physical count of inventory.
  • Understand what contributes to an optimal supply of parts and components to ensure there is always stock while minimizing inventory costs and ensuring there are no delays to the manufacturing process.
  • Take proactive steps to keep inventory low by returning slow-moving material to vendors with the approval of project managers/engineering.
  • Physically move inventory in the warehouse when approved and needed while ensuring appropriate documentation in Epicor.
  • Work with the guidance of other warehouse peers to improve efficiency while maximizing accuracy by fully utilizing available resources and actively seeking to improve performance.
  • Review obsolete inventory items annually. Put these items on eBay, scrap bins, or trash when approved.
  • Maintain revision control in conjunction with engineering and ensure method tracker is pulling correct items in Epicor.
  • Understand how suggestions are made on what should be stocked as an inventory item depending on demand and inventory turns.
  • Confer with department heads to ensure coordination of warehouse activities with activities of other functions such as production, sales, records control and purchasing.
  • Assist shop personnel with any questions regarding inventory control and maintenance.
  • Promote a team environment by exhibiting a positive and helpful attitude with team members while working towards shared team goals.
  • Operate forklift to move or hoist shipments from shipping/receiving area to inventory stocking area.
  • Ensure items are stored in an orderly and accessible manner.
  • Inspect the physical condition of warehouse and equipment and take appropriate steps to ensure safe operation of equipment.
  • Keep warehouse area walkways and shelves clean and organized.
  • Ensure all inventory parts are clearly labeled with part number, description, and bin number.
  • Label all racking with appropriate bin numbers and location information.
  • Punctual. Maintains regular and consistent job attendance.
  • Maintains a safe working environment established by Intermountain Electronics, safety guidelines
