About The Position

Description Duties and Responsibilities Customer Service & Communication Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on fast, friendly service. Communicate professionally with vendors, suppliers, and store teams to ensure accurate receiving processes. Receiving Operations & Inventory Control Receive all DSD (Direct Store Delivery) shipments and log deliveries—including all non‑Albertsons/Tom Thumb distribution deliveries—into the computer system. Break down DSD loads and transport product to freezer or cooler areas as needed. Verify orders against invoices, audit product case contents, and use the electronic receiving system to ensure accuracy and cost control. Maintain invoices and reports according to the established filing system and record‑retention schedule. Review and accept only correct and properly submitted orders from outside sales representatives. Prevent shrink, spoilage, and damage; repair and price salvageable items and discard/return damaged product to vendors as required. Organization, Safety & Facility Standards Maintain the security, sanitation, and organization of the receiving area, storage areas, and loading dock. Inspect backroom equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, baler) and report malfunctions to the Store Director. Ensure safety, cleanliness, and sanitation of all work areas and equipment. Comply with and enforce workplace safety rules, company grooming standards, and dress code. Implement emergency procedures for equipment failures or computer/software malfunctions. Equipment Operation Safely operate equipment such as manual and electric pallet jacks, power lifts, balers, compactors, safety cutters, scissors, pricing guns, phones, handheld devices, and printers. Department Support & Merchandising Occasionally assist with dairy and frozen departments by ordering, stocking, stacking, facing/conditioning, pricing, marking, and rotating items when clerks are unavailable. Ensure adherence to department standards, including code‑date compliance for all products. Staff Training & Leadership Train employees on store policies, sales procedures, and record‑keeping processes. Identify and coach employees with high potential for advancement opportunities. Maintain strong working knowledge of Company policies as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook. Compliance, Accuracy & Integrity Ensure all products meet proper code‑date requirements. Control shrink and manage departmental costs effectively. Perform all job duties with accuracy, safety, integrity, and honesty. Complete all required duties and any additional tasks necessary for department operations.
