About The Position

Under close supervision, the Inventory Clerk performs a variety of inventory control duties, including cycle counting, inventory slotting, handling customer inquiries, and setting up new part-bins. Employees in this job classification record, track and maintain control of all inventory items within the distribution environment, both physically and through the tracking system. This job class requires knowledge of standard warehouse and inventory practices and procedures, and the ability to operate a computer, track detailed information, and provide excellent customer service.

Requirements

  • One year of work experience, preferably in warehousing and inventory control
  • Ability to communicate effectively and respond to questions and requests
  • Effective written communication skills using appropriate business English
  • Computer literacy to use business software, the Internet, enter data/retrieve data
  • Human relations skills to build effective working relationships
  • Demonstrated customer service, problem solving and common sense skills
  • High School Diploma or GED

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and training in Food Safety (HACCP) and Food Protection programs, National Organic Program (NOP), California Health and Safety Code, Division 104, Part 5 - Sherman Food, Drug and Cosmetic Law: 2008, and FDA’s Quality System Regulations, preferred
  • Familiarity with commonly used inventory control processes and practices preferred
  • Experience operating a forklift, RF Scan Gun, Pallet Ryder and other material handling equipment, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conducts daily cycle counts of inventoried items within the distribution environment, and loads nightly cycle counts.
  • Compiles data from cycle counts and inputs into inventory database system (ERP/WMS) for adjustment approval and finalization, and enters into a master sheet for customer review.
  • Compiles data on end-of-day systematic adjustments taken, produces standardized report, and submits to Inventory Control Supervisor.
  • Researches and reconciles discrepant counts and conducts trend or root cause analyses.
  • Researches and performs root cause analysis of customer complaints.
  • Assesses and responds to internal and external customer requests for inventory checks.
  • Researches and performs root cause analysis of all outbound customer complaints and submits to supervisor.
  • Accumulates and researches all “Return to Bin” product. Researches and performs root cause analysis for bin shorts submitted by the shipping and pulling process.
  • Performs systematic part conversion process to roll existing parts numbers into new parts numbers depending on revisions.
  • Accumulates problem parts, including wrong parts pulled from the fulfillment line, and returns to appropriate bin location after systematic inventory review.
  • Performs new part setups by assigning primary and overflow pick bin locations for newly received parts numbers.
  • Tracks and monitors part demand activity for warehouse slotting requirements.
  • Accumulates items slated for disposition (scrap) both physically and systematically within Distribution Operation.
  • Maintains detailed knowledge of Macola/Money transactions including inventory movements, cycle counts, part conversions, and any other systematic request from internal or external customers.
  • Conducts systematic movement between virtual locations within the warehouse.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
