The Inventory Control Clerk Sr works under the general supervision of an assigned supervisor. This role involves ordering, storing, and issuing a variety of items including parts, materials, supplies, tools, and equipment, requiring a strong working knowledge of the types of materials handled. The position may involve purchasing large quantities or technical items, necessitating direct interaction with manufacturers. Key duties include soliciting price quotations from vendors, initiating purchase paperwork, and maintaining detailed records of items received and issued, both manually and using computer systems. The clerk is responsible for monitoring inventory levels to maintain prescribed quantities and verifying the accuracy of materials against shop manuals, vendor catalogs, and price lists. Communication with vendors, management, and users is crucial for addressing part substitutions or modifications and sourcing unavailable supplies. The role also involves following up on and expediting orders, approving invoices for payment, and inspecting incoming stock for defects and specification conformance. The clerk determines storage methods, identifies and labels stock, and organizes articles in bins, on floors, or on shelves. Physical tasks include delivering or picking up supplies using a light truck and operating material handling equipment like a forklift, if assigned. The position requires maintaining the supply room's appearance, interacting with various stakeholders, and generating inventory and equipment reports for management. Periodic travel to outlying satellite facilities is required to assist with inventory, special projects, and audits.
