About The Position

The Inventory Control Clerk II position at the Athens-Clarke County Unified Government is responsible for managing inventory control related to police equipment and evidence. This role ensures strict accountability and maintains the chain of custody for all inventory and property. The clerk will perform various duties including maintaining police equipment inventories, issuing items to authorized personnel, and preparing necessary documentation. The position requires collaboration with others and adherence to safety protocols, including random drug testing due to its safety-sensitive nature.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of experience involving inventory control and equipment inventory or related experience.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to be bonded.

• Knowledge of automated property control and inventory management systems.
• Experience in law enforcement terminology and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Maintain various serialized and non-serialized inventories of police supplies and equipment.
• Issue or exchange police equipment, uniforms, and related accessories assigned to authorized employees.
• Perform preventive maintenance checks on all police equipment and related accessories.
• Complete requisition forms for the purchase of equipment and supplies for the department.
• Prepare and maintain computerized records of all items unclaimed and available for sale after cases have been closed.
• Prepare and maintain an admission log into the evidence room as required by National Accreditation and State Certification Agencies.
• Notify owners when their personal property is available to be released and release items after verification of ownership.
• Respond to routine requests for information from officials, employees, and the public.
