Position: Inventory Analyst, Store Projects DEPARTMENT: Planning & Allocation Report To: New Store Inventory Manager Overview: We are looking for an analytical and detail oriented individual to join the New Store Inventory team as an Inventory Analyst who specializes in the hyper-focused pillar of store growth. In this role you’ll be a key stakeholder in the growth of Five Below by managing optimal inventory levels amongst multiple product categories and store variations. This role works closely with a multitude of cross-functional partners including Planning, Buying, Visual Merchandising, and Store Operations to align on correct inventory strategies to drive sales and maximize inventory turn. To be a successful inventory analyst, you should be able to work in a fast-paced environment, manipulate and interpret large data sets, and communicate key takeaways that apply to your everyday workstream. You’re also resourceful and collaborative with excellent communication skills, strong retail math, analytical and excel skills.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in an inventory management, store operations role, or a similar role
  • Must have a bachelor’s degree
  • Must have advanced Microsoft Excel skills including but not limited to: Pivot Tables, V-lookup, Index Match, Nested-If Statements, etc.
  • Must have strong analytical skills
  • Willing and able to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment, works well under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Strategic thinking and active listening skills
  • Must be organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently

Nice To Haves

  • Prior retail experience is a plus
  • Experience with JDA, RMS/Oracle, and/or Business Intelligence is a plus
  • Power BI experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for timely and accurate allocation of merchandise to store projects that include, but are not limited to, new store openings, store expansions, and store remodels
  • Differentiate strategy based on store size, layout, and product availability to ensure full presentation
  • Analyze sales performance to identify any change in trends and apply findings to future strategy
  • Meet regularly with Visual Merchandising, Buying and Planning partners to identify opportunities and risks in inventory levels
  • Keep open line of communication with Store Operations to elicit feedback on product levels on a store-by-store basis
  • Develop a story from large data sets to create an action plan from what the data is telling you
  • Adapt quickly to new allocations timelines based on changes to overall company strategy
  • Tailor allocations based on varying inventory positions across multiple warehouses
  • Partner with Data Science team to help transform manual data sets into dynamic PowerBI dashboards that fuel analysis and deliberate changes
