About The Position

We currently have an amazing opportunity in our Cardiac Cath/Interventional Radiology Lab for a Cath/IR Invasive Technologist. Working in our fast moving Cath/IR Lab certainly offers a variety of procedural exposure to procedure scrubs/radiology technologists who choose this clinical area by professional expansion. We are looking for Rad techs and/or RCIS techs who can wear many hats and think quickly on their feet while providing the best patient care! The Cath/IR lab invasive tech assists the team in the performing of the catheterizations and angiograms. They will monitor and examine the patient prior, during and after the procedure, as well as assist the physician and assist the medical team in whatever they may need during the procedure, such as supply knowledge and management with the department.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and/or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS)
  • Previous general radiologic technologist experience for one year.
  • Previous Cardiac Cath Lab and/or Interventional Radiology Lab experience
  • Current licensure as a ARRT (NE)/ RCIS
  • Basic Life Support - CPR (BLS-CPR)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 - months

Responsibilities

  • Float between Omaha Metro Cardiac Cath Labs, as needed (float differential applied to base rate)
  • Effectively communicates and works cooperatively with team members, patients, families, guests, and providers.
  • Assists with pre-procedure education and preparing patients for the procedure.
  • Ensures the patient is positioned properly for the procedure.
  • Ensures EKG electrodes are properly placed and cardiac electrodes correctly applied.
  • Ensures skin is prepped and sterilized appropriately prior to procedural draping.
  • Performs monitoring function throughout procedures.
  • Documents clinical information in patient records.
  • Operates hemodynamic monitoring equipment.
  • Recognize and report changes in the cardiac rhythm.
  • Recognize and report changes in hemodynamic waveforms.
  • Accurately documents the flow of events from start thru completion of procedure. Scrubs and assists physicians during procedures.
  • Performs surgical scrubbing duties and assists physicians during minimally invasive, image-guided procedures, preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile field
  • Uses fine motor skills to assist physician with the placement/deployment/use of invasive catheters, wires, balloons, stents, Intra-aortic balloon counter-pulsation equipment (IABP), implantable cardiac devices, and electrophysiology catheters
  • X-ray equipment management and manipulation
  • Daily scheduling and chart preparation for procedures
  • Performs daily maintenance
  • Quality assurance testing
  • Equipment cleaning
  • Supply re-stocking
