About The Position

The CV Invasive Specialist performs duties necessary for cardiac catheterization procedures at a technical and professional level requiring some proctoring and supervision of technical detail. The Specialist performs a variety of technical procedures that require some independent judgment. Requirements

  • Invasive Cardiovascular Technician
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required
  • Registered ARRT or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist RCIS within 18 months of hire, or Registered Respiratory Therapist with CV Specific certification, required
  • Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP), required
  • ACLS and Surgical Technologist License with DORA obtained within 3 months of hire in state of Colorado, required
  • Invasive Cardiovascular Technician II
  • Bachelor’s Degree or RCIS Certification, required
  • Registered ARRT or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist RCIS is required or Registered Respiratory Therapist with CV specific certification or RCIS or RCES required.
  • Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) and ACLS is required.
  • Surgical Technologist License must be obtained within 3 months from hire date in the State of Colorado.
  • Four (4) years of experience in Cardiology/Cath Lab
  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
  • Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
  • Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).
  • May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree, preferred
  • Two (2) years of experience in Cardiology/Cath Lab, preferred
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in Cardiology/Cath Lab
  • Preferred Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical support during invasive cardiovascular procedures.
  • Provides patient care under the supervision of the RN.
  • Assists physicians in radiological imaging of cardiac and vascular procedures, acts as scrub assistant, maintaining sterile conditions during clinical procedures.
  • Operates imaging equipment and works in the control room monitoring and documenting procedure images and events.
  • Educates patients and families regarding the procedure and about the expectations of the procedure.
  • Teaches patient and family about pre and post procedure physical conditions.
  • Assists in maintaining order and cleanliness of the unit.
  • Maintains appropriate stock levels for complex interventions and diagnostic procedures.
  • Completes daily, progress and discharge documentation according to departmental standards.
  • Accurately documents productivity information.
