About The Position

Medical Assistants provide basic, uncomplicated patient care and assist with unit/department operations under the supervision of physician, APP, or RN. Assignment of job responsibilities are delegated by the medial provider, RN, Charge Nurse, Nurse Manager, Assistant Nurse Manager assigned to supervise the Medical Assistant and in accordance with this job description. Those in the Introductory Medical Assistant position are employed by Children's Mercy while they complete a six week program designed to prepare newly certified MA's to work in pediatrics. Clinical hours will be completed in ambulatory settings. After completing the boot camp, candidates will begin working in the unit in which they were hired for. Requirements

  • HS diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of experience in patient or customer facing roles
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program
  • BLS certification Required Upon Hire
  • One of the following required upon hire: Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, Registered Medical Assistant, Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant, National Certified Medical Assistant

Responsibilities

  • Attends and completes a Medical Assistant training program to learn to provide supportive patient care.
  • Learns to assist in the maintenance of a safe environment and promote efficient and safe operations.
  • Learns and exhibits professionalism, delivery of excellent customer service and performs clerical functions.
  • Attends education programs, unit meetings and assigned committees.
