About The Position

The IOM Technologist performs a preoperative assessment of the patient and conducts intraoperative sensory and motor tests using currently accepted electrophysiological techniques. Data is compiled, interpreted, and communicated in real-time. The IOM Technologist completes post-operative reports and billing forms. The purpose of this testing is to reduce the incidence of post-operative neurological deficits. This position is based in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Requirements

  • CNIM or CNIM-eligible required.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license.
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree or higher (i.e. Masters, Ph.D., MD).
  • Must have current AHA CPR certification.
  • Must be willing to relocate to Cincinnati, Ohio or commute to Cincinnati, Ohio market.

Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of the clinical manager, perform a preoperative assessment of the patient.
  • Conduct intraoperative sensory and motor tests using electrophysiological techniques.
  • Compile, interpret, and communicate data in real-time.
  • Complete post-operative reports and billing forms.
  • Explain test procedures to patients and family members.
  • Measure and apply recording electrodes according to the international 10-20 Electrode Placement System.
  • Calibrate, evaluate, and adjust equipment for optimal data acquisition.
  • Interact with the surgical team to provide interpretive data regarding the patient’s neurological status.
  • Identify and eliminate physiological and non-physiological artifacts.
  • Document significant events and stages of surgery accurately and timely.
  • Assist new IOM technologists after training completion.
  • Attend scientific courses and seminars for continuing education if workload allows.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Clinical Manager or Corporate staff.
