About The Position

The Intramural Sports Student Supervisor administers and oversees Intramural Sports contests and events as well as Intramural Sports Officials under the supervision of the Intramural Sports & Camps Supervisor and the Intramural Sports and Camps Coordinator. This position is part-time and non-exempt, with a work schedule that varies, including weeknights and weekend shifts as required. The Student Union, Inc. at San Jose State University supports the development and well-being of students by providing diverse programs and quality facilities to enhance the collegiate experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification, American Red Cross preferred.
  • Experience in sports officiating (in IM program or elsewhere) is preferred.
  • Required COVID vaccination verification or qualified exemption.

Responsibilities

  • Learn, apply, and enforce Intramural Sport Program policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the on-site operation of intramural sports events, including participants, spectators, and officials.
  • Provide constructive feedback to student officials regarding officiating performance and improvement.
  • Ensure proper check-in of all officials and verify eligibility of all participants.
  • Handle player and team protests and ejections professionally.
  • Learn sport rules and assist with officials' training clinics.
  • Set up and tear down all equipment before and after events.
  • Complete appropriate forms and records, including incident reports and evaluations.
  • Respond to emergencies by administering first aid and/or CPR.
  • Act as a liaison between participants and staff regarding the Intramural Sports program.
  • Attend all scheduled staff meetings, training days, and workshops.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • Hourly wage of $20.00 - $22.75 per hour.
  • Satisfactory completion of a background check required for employment.
