About The Position

The Department of Health, Behavior, and Society (HBS) is seeking Interviewer and Field Supervisors. HBS is dedicated to research, education, and practice on public health issues rooted in human behavior and social conditions from smoking and substance use to diabetes and HIV and more. The Interviewer and Field Supervisor support the conduct of a research project. Collects and organizes data through study-specific procedures that may include community outreach, data collection, sample collection, laboratory work, and/or field work. Provides general administrative support for meetings/events, communications, reporting, etc.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or graduation equivalent.
  • One year of related experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing operational plans to meet research goals.
  • Set up tools and procedures for data collection and study processes.
  • Collect and organize data per study requirements, e.g. participant interviews, administer questionnaires; conduct background research, laboratory processing, etc.
  • Process data by organizing data records and study files.
  • Run basic analyses and prepare routine reports.
  • Perform literature searches, abstract data from literature searches and index gathered data.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Recruitment and enrollment of research participants, including participant screening, obtaining informed consent, conducting interviews using computerized interviewing tools, HIV counseling and testing, and providing referrals to care.
  • Oversee data collection in the field may include managing incentive payments to participants and recording payments in payment vouchers, assigning survey IDs to participants, assigning interviewers to participants, overseeing flow of recruitment, organizing supplies before and after data collection, and addressing issues in the field.
  • Interviewers with a valid driver’s license may drive project vans to assigned venues for data collection and must maintain confidentiality of study participants’ identity and information, including responses to survey questions and HIV test results
