JOB SUMMARY: Perform effective teaching methods to ensure student success and promote an exemplary educational program which fosters achievement for all students.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Student teaching/practicum/internship experience that meets or exceeds Colorado's requirements
  • Basic knowledge of typical office equipment such as telephones, copiers, fax machines, email, etc.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Basic classroom management and planning skills
  • Basic organizational skills
  • Intermediate verbal and written communication and interpersonal relations skills
  • Ability to align curriculum and assessments with state content standards
  • Ability to support programs designed to increase student achievement
  • Ability to assume leadership in the development and communication of programs and curriculum
  • Ability and desire to work as a team member
  • Ability to actively participate in a Professional Learning Community
  • Ability to understand, appreciate, and make accommodations for student diversity
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with diverse stakeholder groups
  • Ability to serve as a role model and an innovative and creative learner with an insatiable thirst for knowledge that stays on the cutting edge of instructional practice and pedagogy
  • Criminal background check and fingerprinting required for hire
  • Colorado Department of Education (CDE) teaching license
  • Appropriate endorsements or equivalent in the content field

Nice To Haves

  • Formal education beyond a Bachelor’s degree
  • Three (3) years of successful teaching experience
  • Experience advising school clubs/co-curricular activities
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Racially conscious and culturally competent with the skill, will, capacity, and knowledge to commit to a culture of continuous improvement

Responsibilities

  • Strong knowledge of content related to life skills, teaching methods, learning styles and educational research related to secondary learners.
  • Demonstrate the ability to gather, interpret and evaluate data for the purpose of program modification and interventions.
  • Strong communication, organization and planning skills.
  • Positively impact achievement and differentiate services based on the needs of the students by supporting programs designed to increase student achievement.
  • Ability to work with a diverse student population.
  • Demonstrate problem solving skills through collaborative work with students, teachers, parents and administrators.
  • Demonstrate skills in supervision of students.
  • Ability to maintain integrity and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to form relationships with students and to serve as an academic coach/mentor.
  • Willing to support and actively participate in a professional learning community.
  • Participate collaboratively in teaching teams to design curriculum and assessments, and pursue best teaching practices.
