Durango School District is accepting applications for an Interventionist for Sunnyside Elementary School for the 2025/2026 school year. Colorado Teaching License required, with the ability to support students in a variety of academic content areas to include Reading, Writing, Math, Science and Social Studies. Position is full time and includes a full benefits package. Position begins 9/11/25 or as soon as possible. The Interventionist will assist the teachers and special education team in developing and delivering interventions to students who need additional support in various academic content areas. In collaboration with the teachers, the Interventionist will plan and deliver interventions and specialized instruction, supervise assigned students, and maintain a positive learning environment. The role involves actively monitoring student goals and working with core teachers to provide direct and indirect support, adapting instruction to meet individual learning needs.

  • Work with classroom teachers to develop and implement interventions for students needing additional support.
  • Utilize effective teaching practices to teach the adopted curricula for assigned grades and subjects.
  • Develop lesson plans and instruct with adopted materials.
  • Utilize formative and summative assessments to assess student learning and report results.
  • Model and provide instruction related to character education.
  • Implement student IEP's, 504 Plans, and Behavior Support Plans.
  • Provide safety instruction for students regarding potential hazards.
  • Maintain an orderly, positive learning environment.
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with families regarding student progress.
  • Assist with the development of behavior support plans and crisis plans as necessary.
  • Abide by all applicable laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related subject from an accredited university.
  • Colorado Teaching License.
  • Excellent interpersonal relations and communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement progress monitoring tools.
  • Strong decision making, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with students with diverse needs.
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Experience in a similar role is preferred but not necessary.
