Requirements

• AAS in Radiologic Technology (or equivalent hospital-based certificate program).
• Current NYS license in Radiologic Technology.
• Advanced certification in Cardiovascular/Interventional Technology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform all vascular/interventional procedures in accordance with departmental standards.
• Diagnostic imaging.
• Operate and adjust imaging equipment.
• Explain procedure to patient, position patient and equipment.
• Obtain and record a complete clinical history pertinent to the examination requested.
• Evaluate requests for appropriateness, refer concerns to coordinator and/or Radiologist.
• Ability to compress and evaluate arterial and venous puncture sites.
• Select appropriate technical factors for requested imaging exam.
• Assist in the instruction of student technologists and new personnel.
• Select accurate post processing techniques in order to optimize vascular/interventional images.
• Maintain knowledge of inventories available and their applications (catheters, guidewires and stents).
• Maintain aseptic technique during procedures and scrub with physician.
• Ability to access and interpret lab values and patient monitoring equipment.
