Requirements

  • Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology or an accredited program in invasive cardiovascular technology.
  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
  • .Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 1 year of hire/transfer.
  • ARRT Certificate OR Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist OR Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialists
  • BLS required within 30 days of hire/transfer
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting
  • Act 33
  • Act 34
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in an Interventional Radiology Lab is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administer contrast according to protocols under proceduralist's direction
  • Demonstrate proper positioning and radiographic techniques for interventional procedures.
  • Ensure correct patient preparation, equipment operation, and patient monitoring.
  • Identify patients using two identifiers and follow universal protocol during procedures.
  • Review patient history and physician orders, applying departmental protocols for optimal data acquisition.
  • Document patient history in electronic records as required.
  • Maintain aseptic technique and patient safety, incorporating a time-out process.
  • Communicate instructions clearly to patients, explaining procedures to alleviate fears and gain cooperation.
  • Code and track exams through RIS system, network exams to ISITE for archiving and interpretation, and enter charges for performed exams.
  • Interact effectively with patients and co-workers, displaying care, listening, dignity, and respect; support other departments with general radiographic procedures as needed.
