Requirements

  • Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology or an accredited program in invasive cardiovascular technology.
  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
  • ARRT Certificate OR Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist OR Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

Responsibilities

  • Administer contrast in accordance with assigned protocols under the direction of the proceduralist.
  • Demonstrate proper positioning and radiographic techniques for all interventional procedures, with a strong understanding of patient preparation, equipment operation, and monitoring systems.
  • Accurately identify patients using two patient identifiers and follow universal protocol standards. Review patient history and physician orders, applying departmental protocols to ensure optimal imaging results.
  • Document patient history and procedural details in the electronic medical record as required.
  • Maintain a sterile environment and prioritize patient safety, including active participation in the time-out process.
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients, explaining procedures to reduce anxiety and promote cooperation.
  • Ensure exams are properly coded, tracked through the RIS system, networked to ISITE for archiving and interpretation, and that all charges are accurately entered.
  • Collaborate effectively with patients, technologists, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams, demonstrating professionalism, respect, and teamwork to support efficient patient care.
  • Provide support to other departments by performing general radiographic procedures as needed.
