Summary: Performs all phases of interventional and neuro-interventional radiologic examinations on pediatric/congenital and/or adult patients in the CVIS in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization.

Requirements

  • Accredited Program: Radiology (Required)
  • ACLS Certification_non ecard (ACLS AHA) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART)
  • ARRT_American Registry of Radiology Tech (ARRT) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • BLS Cert American Heart_non ecard (BLS AHA) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART)
  • Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT LICENSE) - State of Florida (FL)
  • PALS American Heart_non ecard (PALS AHA) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART)
  • Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Must be able to do a regular on call schedule and work irregular shifts if needed. Must be able to respond to emergent and unexpected situation.
  • Required Work Experience: No prior work experience required.
  • Additional Education Info: Graduate of an AMA approved accredited Radiologic Technologist program.

Nice To Haves

  • ACLS Certification (ACLS) within 6 months is preferred for most locations.
  • Memorial Regional Hospital: Must have ACLS Certification (ACLS) within 6 months.
  • Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital specific: Must have ACLS Certification (ACLS) and PALS Certification (PALS) within 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patients for procedures by reviewing medical history, draping and positioning the patient, preparing procedural/testing sites and administering contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice.
  • Prepares equipment and supplies including sterile trays. Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters. Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.
  • Demonstrate the ability to cover call by performing all functions required after hours.
  • Assists with clerical and non-technical duties necessary to department operations, such as documenting procedures into department/hospital information systems, as per departmental policy, recording billing, editing and statistical information in radiology information system, (post-processing and archiving of images to PACS), maintaining and cleaning patient care equipment per infection control standards and evaluating inventory levels, to ensure par level of stock, suitable for the needs of division.
  • Assists physician with performing diagnostic and vascular interventional procedures (utilizing surgical sterile technique). Reviews results and takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues.
