About The Position

Interventional Radiology Technologist – Orlando Health The Interventional Radiology Technologist provides high-quality, patient-centered imaging and procedural support for diagnostic and interventional radiology procedures. This role works collaboratively with interventional radiologists, registered nurses, and the multidisciplinary IR team to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality procedures while upholding Orlando Health’s standards of excellence. The IR Technologist is responsible for operating imaging equipment, maintaining sterile technique, preparing procedural supplies, assisting physicians during complex interventions, and ensuring optimal image quality and radiation safety in a fast-paced, technologically advanced environment. Key highlights: Perform imaging and technical support before, during, and after interventional radiology procedures Operate fluoroscopy and other imaging modalities while adhering to radiation safety standards Assist physicians during interventional and diagnostic IR procedures, including vascular and non-vascular cases Prepare procedure rooms, maintain sterile fields, and ensure equipment and supplies are ready and functioning Monitor patients during procedures in collaboration with nursing staff and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition Accurately document procedures, contrast usage, and imaging data Participate in on-call coverage as required Opening Summer 2026 at 4000 Lakeland Highlands Road, Lakeland, FL. Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Valid Certified Radiologic Technologist licensure by the State of Florida and
  • Valid American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification and
  • Maintains current BLS/Healthcare provider certification
  • None.

Responsibilities

  • Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care.
  • Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures and protocols.
  • Assists the physician in producing diagnostic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention.
  • Assist physician in all procedures as necessary.
  • Ensures that the patient’s education of procedure performed, needs, safety and comfort are met while in their care.
  • Complies with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality.
  • Adheres to Orlando Health mission statements and commitment to excellence standards.
  • Assesses the patient’s physical condition and age specific needs.
  • Provides instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desired results.
  • Performs proper patient identification, acquires patient’s clinical history and assures that the information is accurately documented and communicated to appropriate team members.
  • Positions patient, equipment, associated devices and manipulates technical factors to achieve high quality images for interpretation.
  • Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated.
  • Applies principles of radiation safety to minimize exposure to patients, self and others.
  • Comprehends and complies with Quality Control standards and participates in all Quality Control tasks.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in contrast medication administration with and without use of power injectors.
  • Applies sterile techniques and, appropriate standard precautions in utilizing Personal Protective equipment (PPE) to prevent cross contamination in accordance with OH policy and training procedures.
  • Administers medical aid as required in cases of adverse reaction to contrast medication and/or other emergencies.
  • Assists in supervision of student technologists and training of new technologists.
  • Utilizes all Corporate Radiology computer systems effectively and accurately.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in supply usage, charging and documentation.
  • Ensures safety of all customers
  • Locates, uses and troubleshoots complex technical equipment/instruments.
  • Acts as a resource for its operation and training.
  • Maintains use of customer service skills in communication with all Orlando Health staff, visitors and co-workers.
  • Maintains adequate inventory levels of supplies, equipment, resources, tools and forms.
  • Performs as a mentor/preceptor for new staff while maintaining high standards of patient care, documentation, and professionalism.
  • Understands application and technical aspects of all equipment and supplies used in all procedures.
  • Ensures case turnover time to be within established department standards by maintaining proper workflow and prioritizing optimize patient care.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures
  • Demonstrates awareness of legal issues, patients’ rights and compliance with the standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies.
  • Notifies Biomed and/or vendor as appropriate to resolve the problem and report the incident to the supervisor.
  • Assists in developing and implementing essential policy and procedures.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of all-procedural changes and equipment updates.
  • Participates in process improvement activities as assigned
  • Maintains well stocked and organized work areas.
  • May be required to work at any facility.
  • Assists with collection of QA data.
  • Participates in the process to ensure that all OSHA, JC, FDA regulations are adhered to within the department.
  • Responsible for professional growth and continuing education to maintain licensure.
  • Maintains cleanliness of work area and equipment.
  • Provides patient transport.
