About The Position

We're looking for a qualified Interventional Radiology Technologists like you to join our Texas Health family. The position is located at Texas Health Ft. Worth, a Level 1 Trauma Center and Certified Stroke Center, where you will work in the Radiology Interventional Services environment. The role involves a wide variety of procedures including tunneled line placement, fistula work, peripheral revascularization, trauma, neuro diagnostics with interventions, and strokes. Work hours are Monday-Friday from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM with rotating days off, providing a four-day weekend every five weeks. On-call is required but is self-scheduled, and you must be within thirty minutes of the hospital. On-call requirements include two primary weeks and two backup weeks within a thirteen-week cycle.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Applied Science required or completion of an accredited program in radiologic or cardiovascular technology required or high school diploma or equivalent with two years' work experience in invasive cardiology required.
  • One year vascular or cardiac angiography experience preferred.
  • Two years' experience with high school diploma required.
  • ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists upon hire required.
  • GMRT - General Medical Radiologic Technologist if ARRT only upon hire preferred.
  • RCIS - Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (Obtain within 6 months if graduate from Cardiovascular Accredited Program) upon hire required.
  • LMRT - Limited Medical Radiologic Technologist if RCIS Only upon hire preferred.
  • RCES - Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (For Electrophysiology Labs (EP) only) upon hire required.
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support (prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly) required.
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 90 days of hire required.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and recognize the patient's emotional, physical, developmental, cognitive and psychosocial conditions.
  • Prepare room for examination (i.e. suction, oxygen, supplies).
  • Check physician orders and exam requisitions using time-out procedures.
  • Greet and acknowledge patient, using two forms of ID.
  • Obtain patient history.
  • Handle patients with IVs, oxygen, chest tubes or other devices, and monitor patient during imaging.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of emergency drugs and equipment.
  • Use proper body mechanics when assisting patient.
  • Assist the provider while administering contrast media under supervision.
  • Process patient information, display proper phone etiquette and transport patients as needed.
  • Explain procedures to patient or guardian/family member prior to exam.
  • Position patient to correct anatomical area of interest.
  • Perform complex procedures including age-related criteria and developmental considerations.
  • Adjust technique parameters appropriately for age-related factors.
  • Assist licensed practitioner or provider with complex and invasive procedures using aseptic technique.
  • Maintain attention to details.
  • Utilize proper downtime procedures for PACS and HIS/RIS.
  • Correctly send and transfer images to PACS.
  • Print laser images from modality or PACS.
  • Coordinate with Centralized Scheduling and other modalities.
  • Adjust technical factors and operate, care for and maintain equipment.
  • Apply knowledge of physics and accessories.
  • Troubleshoot and properly document equipment malfunction.
  • Maintain equipment and room to sanitary standards.
  • Stock supplies and exchange and maintain film badges within designated time frames.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of quality control and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain and enhance technical skills and technology advancement.
  • Attend departmental continuing education, meetings, and check email.
  • Identify, troubleshoot and initiate quality improvement.
  • Manage time and re-prioritize as necessary.
  • Perform any assignment deemed necessary by supervisor.
