About The Position

The Interventional Radiology Technologist I position works as part of a procedural team to complete a wide variety of Interventional procedures, to include Body and Neuro Interventional procedures. This position provides direct assistance to physicians, sterilely prep/drape patients, scrub assist, and circulate during interventional procedures. This Interventional Radiology Technologist I position delivers exceptional patient care and adheres to Interventional Radiology exam standards and guidelines established by governing agencies to ensure optimal patient safety and customer service. This position is a member of the direct patient care team.

Requirements

  • Associate's of Applied Science.
  • Graduate of an accredited radiologic technologist program.
  • 0+ years of experience.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT-R).
  • Texas Medical Board certification (MRT).
  • American Heart Association (BLS and PALS).

Nice To Haves

  • Interventional Radiology experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists physicians during diagnostic procedures or fluoroscopic procedures, including assisting with sterile technique.
  • Utilizes AIDET incorporating Key Words and MANAGE UP techniques, when speaking to patients and family members at an age-appropriate level.
  • Practices radiation safety and ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable).
  • Follows safety standards and conducts all imaging procedures accordingly.
  • Maintains proper sterile techniques for procedures, regularly practices aseptic techniques, and ensures compliance with infection control procedures.
  • Complies with job role, department and hospital safety standards, practices, and policies.
  • Participates in WASTE walks and supports department LEAN projects.
  • Reports near misses and inputs errors promptly into appropriate hospital patient safety reporting system to improve processes and identify trends.
  • Performs daily imaging equipment quality control (QC) ensuring all imaging equipment is in safe working order prior to use.
  • Utilizes critical thinking skills to observe and proactively address patient reactions or potential outcomes.
  • Provides accurate and complete documentation of patient procedures.
  • Uses resources efficiently; does not waste supplies.
  • Ensures their personal timecard is accurate and approves it in a timely manner.
  • Participates in department projects or shared governance activities.
  • Seeks opportunities to expand learning beyond baseline competencies.
