Functions as clinical resource to staff and expert interventional technologist practitioner. Provides expert knowledge in anatomy and physiology; secondary leadership for day-to-day operations. Assists supervisor with completion of staff orientation, staff competency, development of staffing patterns, maintenance of departmental and staff documentation. Provides quality care to patients receiving diagnostic and interventional radiology procedures. Monitors the appropriateness of patient care assignments based on patient care requirements and staff competence. Communicates with nursing units and physicians concerning patient care needs and scheduling concerns. Assists in coordinating staffing schedules and ensuring communication regarding areas of concern. Ensures documentation is complete and accurate regarding all aspects of patient care and monitors the adherence to documentation standards. Works with Interventional Technologist Supervisor to assure completion of orientation, initial and on going competency requirements of each staff member. Provides clarification to less experienced patient care staff. Demonstrates expert practitioner knowledge and skills. Serves as a resource for advanced clinical knowledge. Functions independently, can coordinates in Clinical Specialist's absence. Performs other related duties as required.
