About The Position

The Interventional Radiology Technician position at Parkwest Medical Center is a part-time role requiring 48 hours per pay period on the day shift. The technician will assist the radiologist, surgeon, and/or anesthesiologist in performing diagnostic angiographic procedures and complex interventional procedures. Responsibilities include measuring vascular parameters, assisting in catheterization procedures, performing 3-D angiography, and conducting intraprocedural CT scans. The role demands independent judgment and discretion in various tasks, including performing ultrasound for vascular access.

Requirements

  • Must have and maintain current registration as a Registered Radiology Technologist ARRT (R).
  • Advanced certification in Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI), Cardiovascular Interventional Radiography (CV), Cardiac Interventional Radiography (CI), or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) must be obtained within 18 months of start date.
  • State licensure in accordance with Tennessee guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance to the radiologist, surgeon, and/or anesthesiologist in performing diagnostic angiographic procedures.
  • Measure vascular parameters such as blood flow velocity and intravascular pressure measurements.
  • Assist in all phases of catheterization procedures including catheter insertion and operation of electronic instruments.
  • Perform 3-D angiography cath volume measurements and intraprocedural CT scans.
  • Exercise independent judgment and discretion in performing duties.
  • Perform ultrasound for vascular access.
  • Educate and train new staff members and students.
  • Maintain established policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in complex clinical skills and patient assessment.
  • Coordinate procedures with other departments and schedule Interventional Radiology procedures.
  • Assist with inventory control and follow up with patients post-discharge.
  • Stay current in Basic Life Support (BLS) and perform BLS as needed.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
