About The Position
JOB OVERVIEW • Job Title: Interventional Cardiologist • Job Type: Locum Tenens • Location: West Burlington, IA • Service Setting: Inpatient/Outpatient • Coverage Type: Clinical + Call • Coverage Period: April 6, 2026 – Ongoing • Clinical Shift Schedule: Monday–Thursday 9:00a–3:30p; Friday 8:00a–12:00p • On-Call Shift Schedule: Rotating weekday and weekend call • Call Type: Weekday and 24-hour weekend call COVERAGE DATES • Start Date: April 6, 2026 • End Date: Ongoing • Providers must be able to offer a minimum of 2–3 weeks per month PATIENT INFORMATION • Patient Demographics: Adult cardiology patients • Patient Volume/Census: Clinic 12–15 patients per day; inpatient rounding/consults 5–10 per day • Admissions: Yes • Rounding: Included • Phone Consults: Included during call coverage • Case Mix: Interventional and general cardiology FACILITY INFORMATION • EMR System: Epic • Office Equipment Available: Cardiac cath lab and diagnostic equipment • Specialty Backup Available: Multidisciplinary medical and surgical services • Support Staff Available: Cardiology team and hospital staff • Reason for Coverage: Ongoing locum coverage need PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE • Hospital Privileges Required: Yes • Credentialing Timeline: Approximately 60 days • Call Requirements: Mandatory gratis on 24-hour call (0–4 hours) COMPENSATION & BENEFITS • Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered REQUIRED PROCEDURES • Diagnostic cardiac catheterization • Angioplasty and stenting • Stress echocardiography and nuclear stress testing • Echocardiogram interpretation • Holter and event monitor interpretation • Transesophageal echocardiograms • Cardioversions JOB REQUIREMENTS • Licenses: Active Iowa medical license or eligibility via IMLC • Board: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Interventional Cardiology • DEA: Active DEA required • Certifications: As required for cardiology privileges • Experience: Interventional cardiology experience required • Other Qualifications: Ability to participate in shared general and interventional call coverage DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Provide outpatient interventional cardiology services • Perform inpatient rounding and consultations • Participate in rotating weekday and weekend call coverage • Perform diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures • Collaborate with cardiology staff and multidisciplinary care teams • Document all patient care accurately and timely in Epic
Requirements
- Active Iowa medical license or eligibility via IMLC
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Interventional Cardiology
- Active DEA required
- As required for cardiology privileges
- Interventional cardiology experience required
- Ability to participate in shared general and interventional call coverage
