Chattanooga High School Center for Creative Arts, located in Chattanooga, TN, is a unique and joyful fine arts magnet school promoting academic and artistic excellence for students in grades six through twelve. The school balances a rigorous college preparatory academic program and an exemplary arts program in which students major in one of 8 options, including acting, instrumental music, communications/film, musical theater, visual art, vocal, technical theater, and dance. At CCA, we celebrate acceptance and an appreciation for cultural differences. Our staff exhibits a caring and supportive attitude towards the individuality of our students. We have very involved parents who volunteer on a regular basis at our more than seventy performances and artistic opportunities. Additionally, we are looking for teachers with professional goals and who understand that teaching with high expectations will help all students rise to their potential. The Intervention Teacher provides small group and/or individual instruction in academic content areas such as math and reading while serving as a member of the RTI Team at the school level. At CCA, this position will also focus on supporting students with executive functions skills, such as organization, time management, and work completion.

Requirements

  • Teaching candidates must hold a valid state of Tennessee teaching license with applicable content/grade-level endorsement (i.e. Elementary Education, Math, or English) or be upcoming graduates in an accredited teacher preparation program. If you hold a teaching license in another state, you must apply for a Tennessee teaching license.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills to deal effectively with students and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and delivers effective instruction in tier 2 and/or tier 3:
  • All instruction is tightly aligned with the HCS RTI Framework.
  • Designs lessons based on best practices with clear learning targets and measurable goals. Frequently plans collaboratively with colleagues to enhance student’s reading and/or math needs.
  • Conveys high expectations while using multiple effective strategies, materials, and classroom practices that involve and motivate students while differentiating instruction to meet the students’ reading and/or math needs.
  • Uses student data, colleagues, and self-reflection on instructional practice to continually improve instruction and student outcomes.
  • Models best practices in instruction aligned to Academic Press & Personalization Framework and HCS RTI Framework.
  • Fosters positive relationships throughout the school.
  • Provides a well-structured and engaging learning environment by utilizing effective classroom procedures and routines while showing caring, respect, and fairness for all students.
  • Collaborate with instructional coaches to strengthen understanding of RTI goals and accelerate learning.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and provide feedback to strengthen RTI instruction.
  • Engages family and community to support students that are below grade-level.
  • Consistently develops strong relationships with students’ families
  • Leads school process for notifying and updating parents on their child’s need for intervention, including sending out state required Home Literacy Letters.
  • Provides opportunities for parents to be involved in their children’s learning.
  • Actively seeks out opportunities to collaborate with colleagues and other stakeholders in order to improve teaching & learning.
  • Reflects on own instruction and leadership while contributing ideas, expertise, and time to the mission and goals of the school.
  • All other duties assigned that support students who are below grade-level.
  • Attends training in the appropriate model(s) implemented in the school.
  • Keeps accurate records of student work and interventions provided.
  • Provides classroom teacher(s) and/or administration with regular progress reports on students.
  • Follows established procedures to ensure assigned areas are safe.
  • Works collaboratively with administrators, faculty, and staff.
  • Attends work and arrives to work on time.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Adheres to the Teacher Code of Ethics as defined by Tennessee Law.
