About The Position

ACCEL Schools is seeking highly-qualified Intervention Specialists in Columbus, Ohio dedicated to providing a superior education for all students. We are looking for teachers who are excited to create a rigorous and nurturing classroom environment that prioritizes student learning and social-emotional development. As part of the Columbus Arts & Technology Academy (CATA), a public charter school serving East Columbus EK-12 students, you will be part of a team known for its nurturing teachers and staff, offering a well-rounded, college-prep education enriched with technology and arts instruction. The school provides a variety of educational opportunities including College Credit Plus and Career Technical Education. The Intervention Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the educational and behavioral goals of all students, particularly those with an Individualized Education Program (IEP). This position involves working cooperatively with classroom teachers to interpret the abilities and disabilities of students, assisting in classroom intervention strategies, modifying general education curricula as necessary, and helping students with regular class assignments. The Intervention Specialist will conduct diagnostic assessments for instruction, facilitate IEP meetings, write and implement behavior improvement plans, and utilize research-based best practices in daily planning and instruction. In addition, the role requires integrating culturally responsive teaching practices into daily lessons and interactions with students, parents, and colleagues. The Intervention Specialist will also serve as an advisor for a designated set of students, communicate regularly with families regarding their child's academic and social-emotional growth, and participate in planning and implementing non-instructional activities such as social events and field trips. This position is essential in relentlessly working to meet all goals related to student achievement and culture, as well as state-specific achievement goals.
