About The Position

The Intervention Specialist provides direct care and support services to adults receiving crisis stabilization services at the Phoenix Center. This role focuses on monitoring client safety, physical and mental status, and daily functioning while supporting program operations and maintaining a therapeutic milieu. Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to observe, document, and communicate client status effectively
  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress or crisis situations
  • Basic computer skills and ability to complete electronic documentation

  • Experience working in residential, crisis, healthcare, or direct care settings preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care and supervision to adults residing in the Phoenix Center to ensure safety, stability, and adherence to program expectations.
  • Monitor and observe clients’ physical, emotional, and behavioral status throughout shifts, identifying changes in presentation, mood, behavior, or functioning.
  • Promptly report changes in client condition, safety concerns, or behavioral observations to the treatment team in accordance with established protocols.
  • Support the therapeutic milieu by fostering a calm, respectful, structured, and trauma-informed environment.
  • Assist clients with daily routines and scheduled activities, including groups, personal care, leisure activities, and wellness activities as assigned.
  • Complete admission and discharge processes, including orientation to the unit, review of rules and expectations, and completion of required documentation.
  • Assist with meal preparation, meal service, and cleanup for clients and staff in accordance with health, safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Maintain unit cleanliness, organization, and safety, including monitoring common areas as required.
  • Support de-escalation efforts using approved techniques and follow safety protocols during behavioral or crisis situations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary treatment team members, including clinicians, nurses, peer support specialists, and supervisors, to support coordinated care.
  • Accurately and timely complete required documentation, logs, and reports in compliance with RiverValley Behavioral Health policies and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in shift handoffs, staff meetings, training, and supervision as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, as necessary to support program.
