About The Position

The Licking Regional ESC has two potential openings for Intervention Specialists to work at our Flying Colors Preschool – one position at our central location in downtown Newark and the other in the Utica Elementary classroom. Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s Degree and valid Ohio teaching license. A dual-license (gen-ed and intervention) is preferred but not necessary. Salary will be based on years of experience and licensure. Qualified individuals may send their letter of interest and current resume to [email protected]. Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Valid Ohio Department of Education licensure/credentials
  • Successful completion of BCI/FBI background checks

Responsibilities

  • Ensures safety of students, taking all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities
  • Provides instruction to students demonstrating a knowledge of behavior management and motivational skills
  • Reflects the annual goals and short term goals in the daily lesson plans and monthly activity plans
  • Establishes a system of documentation/information collection to verify implementation of student progress toward goals and objectives relating to academic and behavior goals
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of weekly lesson plans based on student needs
  • Assists other school staff in implementing appropriate functional curriculum, instruction, and behavior management strategies
  • Conducts parent meetings to develop and share information pertaining to student progress
  • Completes written reports as assigned by the administration in an accurate and timely manner
  • Demonstrates skill in prevention, redirection and crisis management
  • Delegates and supervises the paraprofessional(s) assigned to his or her classroom
  • Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance
  • Maintains required license(s)
  • Maintains respect at all times for confidential information, e.g., IEPs, medical records, court decisions, etc.
  • Observes ethics of the teaching profession, exhibits professional behavior, emotional stability and sound judgment
  • The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment at the Center.
  • Serves as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings
