About The Position

The 6–8 Intervention Specialist is responsible for providing high-quality, individualized instruction to students with disabilities. This role involves managing a caseload of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), collaborating with general education teachers in inclusive settings, and ensuring students make progress toward both state standards and personal developmental goals.

Responsibilities

Modify and adapt the 6-8 general education curriculum to ensure accessibility while maintaining alignment with Ohio’s Learning Standards.
Provide direct instruction in small groups or 1:1 settings, focusing on academic, social, and executive functioning skills.
Utilize Evidence-Based Practices (EBPs) and Assistive Technology to support diverse learning styles.
Serve as the Case Manager for assigned students, overseeing the drafting, implementation, and annual review of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Conduct functional behavioral assessments (FBA) and develop Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) as needed.
Maintain rigorous documentation of student progress toward IEP goals, using data to drive instructional adjustments.
Partner with general education teachers in a "Push-in" or "Co-teaching" model to support students in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE).
Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and transition planning.
Support the social-emotional development of students during the transition from childhood to adolescence.
Integrate transition planning into the IEP for students aged 14 and older (per Ohio law), focusing on post-secondary goals and independent living.
