About The Position

Coaching is an integral and important part of any interpretive operation. A good interpretive coach is one who is able to nurture a new interpreter to help them develop and maintain a compelling tour, presentation, as well as work with seasoned interpreters looking for ways to freshen and excel at their programs. At Doyon/Aramark Joint Venture, we pride ourselves on meeting or exceeding the NPS interpretive standards and the Interpretive Coach is a key position in meeting that goal. About Denali National Park & Preserve and Doyon/Aramark Joint Venture: Summer days in Alaska stretch nearly endlessly, with up to 20 hours of daylight on the Summer Solstice. Spanning 6.2 million acres, Denali National Park & Preserve is home to Denali, the highest peak in North America, and attracts over half a million visitors annually. Conveniently accessible by road—4.5 hours from Anchorage and 2 hours from Fairbanks. Doyon Limited and Aramark have teamed up in a Joint Venture as the Denali National Park & Preserve's Concessionaire. Open May to September, our operation manages the transportation, retail, guest service and food and beverage concessions with our client; The National Park Service. By road, our 100 Blue Bird Bus Fleet takes guests past the 15-mile public access point daily during summer months, allowing people to hike, view wildlife, climb, and camp where few people have set foot. This is a seasonal role with ideal dates of April 30 - September 17, 2026. We offer competitive wages, paid Holidays, Sick Pay and Benefits Stipend. Requirements

Previous experience in the interpretive field required.
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent in experience) in natural sciences or interpretation.
Must be familiar with NPS Interpretive Standards and training including compelling stories methodology.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Must be over 21 with a valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

Previous coaching experience highly desired.
Certified Interpretive Guide or Trainer through National Association of Interpretation preferred. This training will be made available on site in Denali if not previously held.
Knowledge of sub-arctic ecosystems and general ecology/biology is a plus.
Experience with Living History and Cultural History presentations a plus.

Responsibilities

Assists the Interpretive Programs Manager in all facets of the interpretive operation.
May be asked to plan and present pre-season training and coaching to any of the interpretive positions.
Act as a mentor to interpreters, ensuring they have the tools they need to develop their tours and presentations.
Complete tour and program evaluations and provide coaching as necessary.
Assists with the maintenance and day to day operations of the Interpretive Resource Library.
May be required to develop and present a Living History character or develop an Athabascan Cultural History interpretive program to assist with programming as needed.
Special interpretive projects as assigned.
Review and respond to customer reviews.
