About The Position
Global Dimensions is seeking skilled interpreters and translators fluent in Tigrinya, Pulaar, and Soninke to provide essential language services to the U.S. Government. This role is critical in ensuring effective communication and understanding between diverse populations and government staff. The successful candidates will be expected to deliver high-quality interpretation and translation services, both in-person and remotely, to support various government initiatives and projects. The position requires a working proficiency of at least ILR level 2+ in both English and the target language, ensuring that all communications are accurately conveyed and understood. In this role, interpreters will be responsible for providing foreign language support services, which include transcription, interpretation, and translation. They will relay important deadlines, instructions, and questions to staff, assisting in the communication of any concerns or additional information. The interpreters will also play a vital role in helping staff build rapport with the communities they serve, understanding the cultural context, and providing translation services that aid in orienting staff to community resources. Candidates will be expected to translate documents from English into the preferred and primary languages of eligible recipients and vice versa, as requested. This position is not only about language proficiency but also about cultural sensitivity and the ability to support special projects and initiatives effectively.
