About The Position

The Interpreter provides translation, interpretive and case management services for non-English speaking patients. Performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the mission of Peoples Community Health Clinic. Protected Health Information Requirements/Access: This position will require the use or disclosure of protected health Information. This position will use the Treatment class of protected health information. Restrictions on the protected health information for this position will follow the Privacy Policies of Peoples Community Health Clinic, Inc. Use or disclosure of protected health information not routinely available to this position will follow procedures assessed by or directed by management. Patient Records – Yes               Medical Information System - Yes

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Successful completion of language proficiency testing with a third-party testing service for both English and the language being hired for at a “high intermediate” level.
  • Successfully pass reading and/or writing testing administered by the Clinic Support Supervisor of commonly used clinic phrases with a minimum of 90% accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Communication – listening, speaking, writing, and reading comprehension
  • Skilled in planning, organizing, adaptability, attentiveness to detail and flexibility of assignment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of language and culture of interpreted language and English language.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office products and Windows platform. 10-key knowledge. Must be comfortable moving within an EHR computer system regularly.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Ability to handle all information in a confidential and professional manner.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with scheduling.
  • Provides translation services for all clinic processes.
  • Facilitates inter-agency communication to promote appropriate and coordinated care.
  • Serves as an advocate for the client.
  • Collects data necessary for evaluation and grant reports.
  • Works with managers, providers, and assigned clinic nurse to coordinate the Adjustment of Status process (Green Card) for refugees.
  • Supports a service-oriented atmosphere in accordance with Peoples Community Health Clinic Mission and Philosophy.
  • Follows policies and procedures.
  • Works to improve work processes and clinical outcomes including health disparity and quality improvement collaboratives.
  • Develops and maintains own competence.
  • Maintains a safe working environment and practices safe working habits.
  • Assists in control of Peoples Community Health Clinic resources.
