West Oaks Hospital has provided psychiatric care to the Houston area and surrounding communities for over three decades. Our 176-bed acute care facility is fully accredited and included a 16-bed residential treatment center for adult chemical dependency. We offer a broad range of behavioral health programs for children, adolescents and adults. Treatment is offered at multiple levels of care including inpatient, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient. We are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to assist you and answer your questions about treatment options and insurance coverage. Visit us online at: https://westoakshospital.com/ West Oaks Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented Interpreter (Spanish) to join our team of compassionate, dedicated professionals. The Interpreter (Spanish) will be responsible for responsible for listening to, understanding and translating spoken or written statements from one language to another. The Interpreter will also serve as part of the healthcare team to make communication possible across language barriers while maintain patient confidentiality.

Requirements

Education Required: High School diploma or GED.
Licensure and certification: Required: Interpreter certification; CPR and hospital de-escalation certifications.
Experience Required: One year of interpreter experience.

Nice To Haves

Preferred: Some college.
Preferred: One year of medical interpreter experience.

Responsibilities

Conducts medical and general interpretation for Medical Center staff, patients and their families and visitors during assigned shift.
Assesses and monitors patients' understanding of information conveyed.
Assists in the process of translation of written materials as needed.
Participates in educating Medical staff on use of interpreters through formal and informal mechanisms.
May assist department with operational or administrative needs relative to interpreter services.
Other job duties as assigned.
