About The Position

Overview The Work The Interpreter facilitates effective communication between individuals experiencing language barriers and organizations, agencies, or service providers. The Interpreter ensures accurate and culturally sensitive interpretation of spoken or signed language in a variety of settings, including but not limited to education, healthcare, legal proceedings, social services, and environmental discussions. The Interpreter must adhere to professional ethics and confidentiality standards while contributing to equitable access to resources for diverse populations. Responsibilities Key Responsibilities Accurately interpreting spoken work situations like lectures, conversations, and meetings. Utilizing technology to transcribe spoken English in some settings. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School/BA Degree/ or equivalent in years of experience
• Medical Interpreting Training School
• Foreign Service Institute Certification
• Commission for Healthcare Interpreters.
• 40/60hr medical training.
• Experience with State Department experience/ refugees, FDA, Health & Human services, Medical, Legal, Housing Authority etc.
• Must be able to pass a background check.
• May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.
• Must possess problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written
• Ability to respond effectively to customers with a sense of urgency.
• Proficient in Microsoft and Adobe toolsets, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Acrobat, etc.
• Highly motivated with the ability to handle and manage multiple tasks at any one time.
• Ability to forge new relationships, individual and teaming in nature.
• Must be a Self-starter, that can work independently and as part of a team.
