About The Position

The intern performs duties within an assigned department, supporting an organizational unit while gaining knowledge of the business operations of a public transportation agency serving Los Angeles County. Organizational Responsibilities Perform analytical work, participate in departmental projects, and carry out special assignments in support of the client’s Program Management department. Gather and compile data and prepare simple statistical and narrative reports. Generate correspondence and presentations. Research and prepare reports. Assist in the preparation of graphs, programs, and posters. Coordinate with other client departments and programs. Deploy applicable business software applications. Meet tight time constraints and deadlines. Compile and analyze data. Understand, interpret, and apply policies and procedures. Follow oral and written instructions. Handle highly confidential information.

Requirements

  • Pursuit of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or a related degree from an accredited program
  • Currently enrolled, and in good standing, in a post-secondary education and/or technical certificate program in a field related to the work done in the department
  • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Self-motivated and eager learner, with an aptitude to grow and develop within the field
  • A valid driver's license or the ability to utilize alternative methods of transportation, as needed, to perform job-related duties
