About The Position

Join our team as an intern with Outpatient Therapy at Family & Children’s Center! TRAINING, KNOWLEDGE & SUPERVISION OPPORTUNITIES: Interns will learn specific skills and knowledge directly relating to the practice of mental health and substance use counseling under the direction of a clinical supervisor/coordinators Interns will transfer the skills and knowledge learned in an academic setting to a clinical setting while being supervised and mentored by a clinical supervisor. Interns will develop confidence in their ability to apply learning theory and techniques in counseling situations. Determine appropriate assessments (Diagnostic Assessment & Substance Use Assessments) of clients. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Shadow a Master’s Level Licensed Therapist (LPC) or Master Level Social Worker (MSW) providing psychotherapy service to individuals, couples, family and/or group in a manner consistent with Family & Children’s mission, vision and values. Adhere to all laws of client rights, confidentiality and privacy as governed by HIPPA, governing standards and Family & Children’s Center. Maintain client files with supervision, ensuring timely documentation of provided services in accordance with agency policies and governing standards. Participate in scheduled individual and/or group supervision, ongoing evaluation, staff meetings and other agency meetings as requested. Remain current in required hours of annual staff development. Maintain positive relationships with clients and other counselors. Market a positive public image of services in communities’.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in a class with an accredited university requiring practicum and internship at the Master’s Level.
