About The Position

GXC Inc. has partnered with a nonprofit organization, Getting Out Staying Out (GOSOWorks), that offers free New York State security guard training, career services, and placement support for individuals aged 18-24 who are interested in entering the security field.  GOSO is seeking those interested in pursuing a career as a Protective Security Officer to work in an internship with GXC Inc. The Unarmed Protective Security Officer maintains an environment that is safe and comfortable for client’s guests and employees. The Protective Security Officer is the first line of security. Serving as protection specialists, they will protect critical assets for each event, respond to emergencies, perform general security duties, and document unusual incidents. The Protective Security Officer must work as a member of the security team, act professionally, and demonstrate courtesy and respect to all. This position will require fulfillment by several officers.

Requirements

  • Must be 18-24 years old.
  • Must have a sincere interest in entering the security field.
  • Must demonstrate a friendly, polite, and professional demeanor.
  • Must possess good problem-solving, conflict resolution, and de-escalation skills, with a calm approach to working with the public.
  • Must successfully complete the NYS Security Guard training course provided at no cost (not applicable for those already licensed).
  • Must successfully complete a ten-week, fully paid security guard internship program.
  • Must successfully complete a one-week, fully paid career services training program.

Responsibilities

  • Enforce written rules and procedures through a comprehensive understanding of post/general orders
  • Ensure guest safety through proactive personal interaction and removing hazards in the area of responsibility
  • Prevent and resolve altercations among guests
  • Lead guests and other employees in emergency evacuation procedures and provide assistance
  • Maintain control by circulating through your work area throughout the shift
  • Ensure that no weapons or harmful items enter the venue by ensuring that every guest walk through the metal detectors and prohibited items are removed
  • Enforce House policy regarding photos/videos/recording devices
  • Safeguard against theft and property damage
  • Communicate clearly using radios, hand signals and flashlights. Remain in constant contact throughout the shift
  • Set up area before opening (stanchions, table configuring, etc.)
  • Keep interior and exterior of the venue clear and safe, cleaning spills and removing food, trash, or other obstacles, before, and during the shift
  • The position is eligible and may be asked to work in other GXC Contracted Locations in the surrounding area
