About The Position

Intramotev is seeking Electrical Engineering Internship candidates to join the development team to meet growing demands in the development of self-propelled rail vehicles. This full-time, in-office paid position, based in St. Louis, MO, has a strong electrical focus with additional software abilities. The successful candidate will be a member of the development team for innovative self-propelled capabilities in electrical controllers, battery systems, and electric motor systems for current and future platforms. The development of these capabilities includes multi-disciplinary skills, algorithms development, systems development, integration, and testing.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. This position is a Junior or Senior pursuing a Bachelor's degree, or a graduate student.
  • Successful completion of introductory coursework in analog and digital circuit analysis.
  • Hands-on experience using standard lab equipment, such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and function generators, through university labs or personal projects.
  • Basic programming skills in a language like C/C++ or Python.
  • A strong, demonstrated interest in electric vehicles, power electronics, or embedded systems.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. CPT/OPT is supported.
  • Fluent in both written and verbal English.

Nice To Haves

  • Candidate should have a working knowledge of one or (ideally) multiple areas listed below:
  • Participation in a university engineering project or competition team, such as Formula SAE Electric, Solar Car, or Robotics.
  • Familiarity with schematic capture and PCB layout software (e.g., Altium, KiCad, Eagle).
  • Coursework or project experience in power electronics, embedded systems (microcontrollers), or control systems.
  • Exposure to vehicle communication protocols, particularly CAN bus.
  • Familiarity with modeling and simulation tools like MATLAB/Simulink or SPICE.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes and translates requirements into electrical system architecture, hardware and software designs and interface specifications.
  • Tests and validates to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements.
  • Solves problems concerning and provides other support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle.
  • Supports supplier development, test and production activities and coordination with suppliers to optimize the design.
