Our Dassault Systemes SIMULIA Physics Validation team is excited to announce we have a hybrid internship opportunity available in our Waltham, MA office! The SIMULIA Physics Validation Team is an integral part of the SIMULIA Fluids R D organization, a world-class group of researchers in the fields of Lattice Boltzmann and Turbulence Modeling. SIMULIA software simulation products impact how Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is used in many industrial settings worldwide. We work on the verification and validation of CFD products for its accuracy, robustness and performance for CFD applications in ground transportation, aerospace, oil-gas, etc. We are looking for a Software Validation Engineer to join us as we develop new aerothermal flow simulation capabilities. This is a paid sixth month internship/co-op, to begin in spring 2025. This position is based at the Dassault Systemes Office, Waltham, MA.

  • Perform physics validation and verification tasks of SIMULIA's emerging simulation technologies, including geometry preparation, simulation, results evaluation, and report generation.
  • Obtain reference solutions of Heat Transfer problems to evaluate the accuracy of SIMULIA's software predictions.
  • Assess the numerical order of accuracy and stability of SIMULIA's software.
  • Develop Python scripts for the automation of case preparation, simulation, results post-processing, and report generation.
  • Interact with multiple teams in the organization to report results and support problem-solving efforts.
  • PhD Student in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience performing CFD simulations.
  • Knowledge of Heat Transfer.
  • Knowledge of Partial Differential Equations.
  • Knowledge of Numerical Methods for Partial Differential Equations.
  • Knowledge of CFD theory.
  • Knowledge of Finite Volume Method is desired.
  • Experience in Validation & Verification of CFD products is a plus.
  • Proficient using Python.
  • Familiarity with UNIX/Linux.
  • Experience with Shell scripting is a plus.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal is essential.
